Job Description

Behavior Technician - School Setting (1:1 Support)

Contract | 12 Weeks | 32 hrs/week

Start Date: ASAP

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:45 PM

Location: School-Based Assignment

Compensation: $28/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Behavior Technician to provide one-to-one support at the elementary level.

Assignment Details

Comfortability with the following required:

  • Eloping from the classroom (requiring staff to follow them throughout the building and guide them back).

  • Swearing or verbal outbursts.

  • Occasional physical behaviors such as hitting or kicking staff (not high-level aggression and not typically resulting in serious injury).

The Behavior Technician will work closely with classroom teachers, behavior specialists, and school staff to implement behavior plans consistently and provide a safe, structured environment for students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 behavioral support to assigned student(s) throughout the school day.

  • Redirect students who leave the classroom and safely encourage their return.

  • Follow and implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs).

  • Assist with de-escalation strategies and crisis prevention techniques as needed.

  • Document behavioral data and daily notes as required by the school team.

  • Support the student's engagement in academic and social activities.

  • Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during challenging moments.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with behavioral or emotional needs (school or clinical setting preferred).

  • Comfort working with students who may display mild to moderate physical behaviors.

  • Ability to stay on the move and follow students throughout the building as needed.

  • Strong communication skills and teamwork mindset.

  • Reliability and consistency, especially in maintaining a predictable routine for students.

  • Shift: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-3:45 PM

  • Contract Length: 12 weeks

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Two (2) years of pediatric experience preferred

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
