As our project pipeline continues to grow, we are looking for an Estimator to help expand our estimating capacity and support our leadership team.
Position Summary
Alexander Grading LLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Estimator to join our growing team. This position will support the estimating and preconstruction department by assisting with quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, subcontractor and supplier coordination, and project pricing for commercial sitework and utility construction projects.
The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, comfortable working with construction drawings, and interested in developing a long-term career in heavy civil construction estimating.

· Earthwork & mass grading
· Storm drainage systems
· Erosion control
· Sanitary sewer systems
· Water distribution systems
· Concrete curb & gutter
· Concrete flatwork
· Asphalt paving

This position is based in the Pelzer, SC area. Applicants should only apply if they are willing to live within commuting distance of Pelzer, South Carolina.
Essential Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction
· Review civil construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
· Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, paving, concrete, and erosion control items
· Assist in preparing project estimates and bid proposals
· Solicit pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and trucking vendors
· Enter quantities and pricing into estimating software and spreadsheets
· Help maintain historical cost databases and production tracking information
· Assist senior estimators with bid day activities and proposal preparation
· Organize project documents and maintain bid files
Project Coordination Support
· Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits
· Communicate with project managers, superintendents, vendors, and engineers
· Assist with project handoff meetings after award
· Support material ordering and subcontractor coordination when needed
Administrative & Technical Duties
· Read and interpret civil/sitework plans
· Use digital takeoff software and PDF markup tools
· Maintain organized electronic project files
· Track bid schedules and deadlines
· Help prepare RFIs and clarifications during bidding
Preferred Qualifications
· High school diploma required
· Associate degree or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred
· Internship or field experience in construction is a plus
· Ability to read construction plans preferred, but willing to train the right candidate
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and PDF software
· Experience with estimating software is helpful but not required
· Valid driver’s license required

Work Environment
This position is primarily office-based in Pelzer, SC, with occasional field visits to active job sites throughout the Upstate region.
You will work directly with company leadership to prepare estimates and help us win commercial sitework projects.
