As a Deputy Fire Marshal , you won’t just respond to incidents—you’ll help prevent them, investigate them, and protect your community at every level.

• Lead fire origin & arson investigations.
• Enforce fire codes through inspections (commercial + residential).
• Review building plans for fire/life safety compliance.
• Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and testify in court.
• Conduct internal investigations & background checks.
• Partner with law enforcement, attorneys, and community agencies.
• Educate the public on fire prevention and safety.
• Support emergency management and Fire Marshal operations.
• Train and mentor investigative and inspection personnel.

What We’re Looking For: You’re not just experienced—you’re sharp, steady under pressure, and mission-driven :

• Associate’s degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field.
• 7+ years in fire service or law enforcement.
• 5+ years as a Fire Inspector or Arson Investigator.
• Strong knowledge of fire codes, investigation techniques, and legal processes.
• Ability to lead investigations, manage evidence, and communicate findings clearly.
• Proven ability to work across agencies and with the public.

Required Certifications:

• Intermediate Fire Inspector.
• Intermediate Arson Investigator.
• Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Intermediate Peace Officer (or higher).
• Valid Driver’s License (Class B preferred).

Preferred:

• Professional Standards Investigator experience.
• Texas Commission on Fire Protection Intermediate Firefighter.
• Ability to obtain Basic Fire Marshal Certification within 1 year.
