Job Description

Salary: $131,300 - 237,350 per year Requirements:

  • We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, STEM, or IT with 12+ years of relevant experience, or a masters degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for a degree.
  • We require U.S. citizenship and a current active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • We require at least 8 years of professional experience as a Kubernetes Engineer, including experience designing and building distributed systems for mid- to large-scale enterprises.
  • We require at least 2 years of site reliability engineering experience.
  • We require one of the following credentials, or an equivalent certification: Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA).
  • We prefer a masters degree in Computer Science.
  • We prefer advanced experience with Azure AKS.
  • We prefer familiarity with hybrid IaaS and external cloud integrations.
  • We prefer experience with infrastructure design using cloud-native storage, networking, and security patterns.
Responsibilities:
  • We secure and configure containerized services orchestrated with Kubernetes and the surrounding platform.
  • We tune cluster performance, investigate issues using service and traffic metrics, and build monitoring and alerting dashboards.
  • We lead lifecycle management for all containerized services supporting software development.
  • We troubleshoot containerized services and produce root cause analyses and postmortems for broader teams.
  • We establish service level objectives and other SRE metrics.
  • We manage north-south and east-west traffic to keep critical containerized services available.
  • We ensure the Kubernetes environment is patched, properly configured, right-sized, and able to scale without overprovisioning.
  • We design, secure, deploy, and manage the Kubernetes environment supporting multiple product teams and users across development, staging, production, and higher-classification environments.
  • We design and maintain highly available Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • We automate provisioning, monitoring, and scaling through infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.
  • We develop and maintain Helm charts for application deployment and configuration management.
  • We deploy and operate applications on cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • We monitor and resolve issues with Kubernetes workloads, networking, and persistent storage.
  • We implement Kubernetes security controls such as RBAC, network policies, and container runtime protections.
  • We improve the performance and reliability of containerized applications in distributed systems.
  • We collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to strengthen DevOps workflows and cloud-native delivery.
  • We integrate Kubernetes with service meshes and observability tools such as Istio, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK Stack.
  • We participate in system upgrades, disaster recovery planning, and compliance efforts including NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and FedRAMP.
  • We mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the organization.
