Packaging Engineer | Fremont, MI

Salary Range: $75,000 - $114,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test new packaging concepts and materials for manufacturing products.
• Optimize existing packaging solutions for cost reduction, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Collaborate with suppliers to source and qualify packaging components, materials, and machinery.
• Conduct rigorous packaging performance testing (e.g., transit, shelf-life, material strength).
• Ensure all packaging designs comply with regulatory standards, quality requirements, and customer specifications.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for packaging issues on production lines.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive packaging specifications and documentation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in packaging development, design, and validation within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD) for packaging design and specification.
• Strong knowledge of various packaging materials, their properties, manufacturing processes, and testing standards (ISTA, ASTM).
• Demonstrated ability to manage packaging projects from concept to launch, including supplier collaboration and cost optimization.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with sustainable packaging materials and design principles.
• Proficiency in packaging simulation software (e.g., CAPE, TOPS, ArtiosCAD).
• Certified Packaging Professional (CPP) designation from the IoPP.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
• Experience with automated packaging lines and robotics integration.
