Packaging Engineer | Ludington, MI

Salary Range: $70,000 - $109,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for new and existing products.
• Select appropriate packaging materials based on product protection, cost, and sustainability requirements.
• Conduct and oversee packaging performance testing, validation, and qualification.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure packaging line efficiency and manufacturability.
• Identify and implement cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives for packaging.
• Ensure all packaging designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company specifications.
• Manage packaging supplier relationships and evaluate new packaging technologies or materials.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3-5+ years of experience in packaging development or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and strong knowledge of various packaging materials (plastics, paperboard, films).
• Familiarity with packaging testing standards (ISTA, ASTM) and regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP, ISO).
• Demonstrated ability to manage packaging projects from concept to launch, optimizing designs for manufacturing efficiency.

Bonus Qualifications

• Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
• Experience with sustainable or circular packaging design principles.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Proficiency in advanced packaging simulation software (e.g., CAPE, TOPS).
