Job Description

Job Description: Italian Pastry Chef

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Italian Pastry Chef to lead the preparation and presentation of traditional and contemporary Italian desserts. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of classic Italian pastry traditions—while also bringing modern techniques and innovation to the menu. This role requires precision, creativity, and a passion for both authenticity and excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, bake, and present a variety of Italian pastries, cakes, tarts, and desserts to the highest standards.

  • Develop seasonal dessert menus that highlight Italian culinary traditions and local/seasonal ingredients.

  • Maintain consistency in flavor, texture, and presentation across all pastry items.

  • Oversee mise en place, portioning, and plating for service.

  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry staff in Italian pastry techniques and kitchen standards.

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and kitchen team on menu planning and special events.

  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and quality control of ingredients and finished products.

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering pastry-specific supplies.

  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices in compliance with health regulations.

  • Stay updated with pastry trends and techniques, incorporating them when appropriate while preserving tradition.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or Senior Pastry Cook, preferably with a focus on Italian pastries.

  • In-depth knowledge of Italian dessert traditions and regional specialties.

  • Culinary degree or pastry certification preferred (but not mandatory with sufficient experience).

  • Strong technical skills in baking, chocolate work, sugar art, and plated desserts.

  • Creative flair with an eye for detail in design and presentation.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building abilities.
