Patient Registration Specialist – Dental Services

Experience Level: Expert Level

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Patient Registration Specialist to support dental services by managing patient intake, scheduling, and financial processes. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients and functions as a liaison between dental students and patients to ensure a smooth, accurate, and positive experience from referral through appointment completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete patient registration by accurately collecting demographic, insurance, and financial information
  • Determine appropriate fees, verify coverage, and collect payments at the time of service
  • Accept and process referrals for dental services
  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
  • Verify dental procedure codes and ensure proper documentation
  • Serve as a liaison between dental students, clinical staff, and patients
  • Communicate clearly with patients regarding appointment details, billing questions, and policies
  • Maintain accurate records using multiple computer systems and applications
  • Prepare daily financial reconciliations, including credit card processing and bank deposits
  • Ensure compliance with privacy, billing, and third‑party reimbursement guidelines

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting or related field (dental experience strongly preferred)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of customer service experience
  • Knowledge of third‑party reimbursement processes
  • Ability to accurately interview and register patients
  • Strong organizational, communication, and mathematical skills
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures
  • Proficiency using a 10‑key calculator and credit card processing systems
  • Ability to prepare and reconcile daily financial transactions
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, flexible, and capable of using initiative

Work Environment

  • Patient‑facing role within a dental services setting
  • Regular interaction with students, patients, and clinical staff
  • Emphasis on accuracy, professionalism, and customer experience

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $21.50/hr.
