Position Summary:

Will be responsible to manage assigned Information Technology (IT) Projects in accordance with Kansas Information Technology Office (KITO) guidelines. Requires strong collaboration and team partnership with project business partners and sponsors. This position is responsible for ensuring Vehicle Projects (or otherwise assigned) assigned are successfully completed on time and within budget, has primary responsibility for the quality of a project’s deliverables and its successful completion. To succeed the project manager must work closely with the project sponsor and applicable business and I.T. teams to ensure that the project is successfully completed on time and within budget.

Tasks are varied involving several steps and require analytic thought. Assignments are given with general direction, and employee has a considerable amount of latitude in determining work methods and procedures. Work is controlled by weekly project reports to the Project Management Office Manager (PMO Director).

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 3 years of experience in information systems and analysis, or 5 years of experience in information systems and analysis. Additional experience in the areas listed above can be substituted for the required education as determined relevant by the agency.

Special Requirements: Knowledge of project management methodology. IT Project Management Methodology Mandatory Certification obtained, or willing to obtain by instruction and cost of the Department of Revenue.

Preferred Experience: Preferred knowledge and/or willing to be trained:

  • Certified Associate Project Manager or Project Manager professional credentials are welcome.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware and software applications.
  • Basic knowledge of micro systems environments.
  • Basic knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of Local Area Networks and Wide Area Networks.
  • Basic knowledge of virus protection practices and procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of the use of diagnostic utility programs.
  • Basic knowledge of agency standards, policies, and procedures regarding microcomputer activities.
  • Basic knowledge of available industry research materials.
  • Basic knowledge of training practices and procedures.
