Job Description

Steer the organizational culture and global talent strategy of a prestigious institution in a high-impact, executive HR leadership role based in New York City. Partner directly with the Executive Vice President & COO as a strategic thought partner to orchestrate comprehensive People & Culture operations across a dynamic, mission-driven ecosystem. As a vital "player-coach," you will blend big-picture organizational strategy with hands-on execution, overseeing everything from DEI initiatives and talent management to complex global mobility and risk compliance. This position demands exceptional operational sophistication, cross-cultural competence, and the highest level of professional discretion to nurture an inclusive, industry-leading workplace dedicated to a global mission.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Culture & Talent: Drive engagement for 130+ global staff; manage lifecycle HR solutions (recruitment to offboarding).

  • Employee Relations: Resolve complex issues, conduct investigations, and coach leadership.

  • Total Rewards & Tech: Benchmark compensation, manage 403(b) audits, and optimize Paycom.

  • Global Mobility: Advise on US immigration laws and manage worker visas (H-1B, E3, J1).

  • Leadership: Act as an accessible "player-coach" to mentor a junior HR Associate.

Must-Haves

  • 15+ years of progressive HR experience with proven departmental leadership.

  • Deep global mobility expertise (US immigration and visa processing).

  • Background in nonprofits, arts, museums, education, or think tanks.

  • Tech-fluent in Paycom (or major HRIS), MS Office, Slack, and monday.com.

  • Impeccable judgment, gravitas, and calm under pressure.
