We are seeking a Systems Engineer with Data Policy experiences to join our Fort Independence Team here at Leidos. Here you will leverage your System Engineering background to help data stewardship and data policy governance practices. The right candidate for this Systems Engineering role will have a passion for in data science, but grasp policy stewardship and governance-helping driving efficiencies with the 'what', why and 'where' with certified data repository {CDR} processes, supporting healthy attribute-level governance, and data management practices providing technical guidance on the responsible use of data and policies across the IC community.
As a critical thinker, you will help synthesize processes and work to implement innovative ways that strengthen compliance, optimize data quality, and leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning {ML} to deliver insights that improve governance effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
• Translate governance policies into operational processes and technical solutions, providing clear guidance to stewards and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Data Stewards, Steward Representatives and broader IC community to analyze and optimize data attributes, metadata, and repository certifications.
• Develop predictive models and statistical analyses to monitor compliance, data quality, and stewardship outcomes.
• Apply machine learning and AI techniques where appropriate to automate governance workflows {e.g., anomaly detection, classification, policy adherence}.
• Create and maintain metrics, dashboards, and reporting frameworks to track governance performance and compliance.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure certified data assets meet accuracy, consistency, and accessibility standards.
• Recommend process improvements and technical solutions that enhance efficiency within governance and data stewardship.
Required Qualifications:
• Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• BS degree in STEM, or related field and 8+ years of experience. Additional experience in lieu of degree.
• Knowledge with Identity and Access Management {ldAM} / Identity Credentials & Access Management (ICAM) delivery systems, Authentication, Authorization, Attributes Architectures
• Familiarity with data governance principles, compliance, or metadata management.
• Strong critical thinking ability-able to balance technical solutions with policy and compliance needs.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical insights to policy and Sponsor stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with governance and metadata platforms (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, etc.) helpful.
• Awareness Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) policy, to contribute to the drafting and updating of security policies related to MFA.
• Hands-on experience in automation pipelines or AI-enabled data governance tools.
• Background working in policy, governance, or compliance-focused environments.
