Job Description

Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in a school setting is responsible for providing therapeutic services to students from kindergarten through 8th grade. The role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders to support students' academic and social development. The SLP collaborates with educators, parents, and other professionals to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for a caseload of 40-50 students, ensuring effective communication skills and improved educational outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct speech and language evaluations and assessments for students.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each student's needs.
  • Provide direct speech therapy services to students in individual and group settings.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams to support student progress.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of student progress and therapy sessions.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute professional recommendations.
  • Monitor and adjust therapy plans based on student response and progress.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Valid Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Certification.
  • SC Teacher Certification.
  • Minimum of one year of prior school-based SLP experience.
  • Strong assessment and diagnostic skills in speech and language pathology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working with K-8 student populations.
  • Familiarity with educational and therapeutic technology tools.
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be able to manage a caseload of 40-50 students effectively.
  • Work requires collaboration within a school environment and adherence to school policies.
Scheduling:
  • Work schedule aligns with the academic calendar and school hours.
  • Typical shifts are during regular school days, Monday through Friday.
