Property Location

The Land is a premier sports, recreation, and events complex located in Saraland, Alabama. This state-of-the-art complex will offer a wide range of community amenities, including indoor sports and recreation facilities, versatile event spaces, and an expansive outdoor area with multi-use fields and courts for various sports. The Land will feature five multipurpose fields for football, field hockey, lacrosse, and soccer, alongside eight baseball and softball diamonds, including a 400-foot regulation-size field. Six tennis courts, pickleball courts, a beach volleyball court, full-service concessions, hiking path and trails, and an event lawn offer endless outdoor recreation activities. The Land’s indoor recreation center will include four basketball courts, eight volleyball courts, an indoor track, fitness center, family entertainment center, and adaptable event spaces complete with food and beverage amenities.

 

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the development, sales, and implementation of youth sports programming across all sports. This position has strong emphasis in relationship building skills with community, youth athletes, coaches, and parents. The role requires personal drive, determination, and hard work in a fun, fast-paced environment.

Additional responsibilities include facilitating other youth-based sports events; camps, clinics, specialty events.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the seasonal local sports calendar that works within the expected season and calendar.
  • Build the registration within the sports platform to capture registrations and facilitate the teams and schedules
  • Recruit coaches to support the programming, including facilitating the process for any required training or certifications
  • Build relationships with youth sports associations, civic organizations, etc. to promote leagues, camps, special events, open play, and other sports opportunities.
  • Develop and manage communication to existing databases to promote leagues.
  • Represent the leagues in meetings and/or presentations with various clients, municipalities, and other outside agencies regarding the marketing related plans and strategies.
  • Maintain positive relationships and communicate clearly, tactfully, and persuasively with employees, customers and outside contacts as applicable.  Ensure that all employees, especially customer contact personnel, fully understand all pertinent details to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor facility activities and make recommendations to improve customer service and/or operational efficiencies.
  • Review and analyze internal and external market information, which reflects customer purchase, usage, and satisfaction with Company products and services. Monitor and track results of marketing and sales efforts, analyze budget variances and recommend revised action plans to achieve budgeted goals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to marketing and youth sports publications and organizations.
  • Assure the efficient and timely submission of all required operational, financial, budgetary and related marketing and sales reports.
  • Cross train other key staff members regarding the general sales process and important components as appropriate to facilitate the overall success of the team.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate.

 

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree preferred.
  • 3 years applicable sports league or tournament management experience, preferably in the youth sports or recreation industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management, marketing, sales, public relations and community relations.
  • Demonstrated quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
  • Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.

May supervise sports operation and/or direct staff.
